Conversion by Heat
Cannabidiolic Acid or CBDa is converted to CBD by heat.
Hemp, which is classified as cannabis containing less than 0.3% total THC, is often grown for the production of CBD.
CBD has dozens of known therapeutic uses including reduction of inflammation, and in some cases (often anecdotally) the reduction of anxiety.

CBDa Synthesis
CBDa is synthesized by CBDa synthase, which is expressed by type 3 or BD/BD plants. Although types 2 and 3 are used for hemp production, only type 3 plants will remain compliant through maturity.
The reaction by which CBDa synthase produces CBDa from CBGa creates phytotoxic by-products, and therefore takes place in the apoplastic space of the trichome secretory cavity as well, much like THCa.

CBD and Seizures
It has been clinically proven that CBD is a remarkably effective treatment for severe epileptic seizures.
Charlotte Figi became the poster child for CBD seizure medicines and helped create advocacy which led to the introduction of Epidiolex, an extremely successful medicine for childhood epileptic seizures.

Commercially Available CBD

CBD is the most widely used and accepted cannabinoid available on the commercial market.
